1) Successful energy savings
China has basically accomplished the goal of reducing energy consumption per GDP unit by 20 percent by the end of the 11th Five -Year Program period (2006-2010). In the past five years, China has shut down small thermal power generation capacity and built 600,000 kilowatts of supercritical units and 1 million kilowatts of ultra supercritical units, which ac cumulatively saved over 300 million tonnes of raw coal.
